Doc Stewart Cabernet in October

Doc Stewart Estate Vineyard - Mattawa, Washington, Wahluke Slope AVA

Originally planted in the 1970s by Dr. George Stewart, this vineyard produces deep, rich red varieties as well as a limited amount of premium Chardonnay. It currently produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Syrah, and Chardonnay. Sandy soils from ancient river silt deposits give excellent water drainage and help maintain a balanced foliar canopy, allowing for ideal grape ripening conditions.

Sunrise Vineyard at Winter Solstice

Sunrise Vineyard - Yakima, Washington, Columbia Valley AVA

As you follow the Ahtanum Creek west from its confluence with the Yakima River, a series of small hills rise to the northwest towards the Cascade Mountains. Nestled among these hills are pre-Missoula flood soils where our young Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Chardonnay and Grenache vines are planted. The growing conditions give white varieties a long, late season that preserves bright aromatics and crisp acidity, while Grenache showcases candy-like red berry flavors.  The vineyard was named for the hikers' cabins brought down from Mount Rainier in the 1940s that are still used on the property.

Chukar Vineyard - South of Kennewick, Washington, Horseheaven Hills AVA

Chukar

Planted in 2008 on the steep hillsides of the Nine Canyon Ranch, this picturesque vineyard has Mourvedre, Grenache, Cabernet Franc, Nebbiolo and Carmenere. Plenty of sunshine provides ample heat units to ripen red varieties, while excessive summer heat is tempered by the vineyard’s proximity to the Columbia River. Look for exciting reds from here available in 2012!
