2012 Reserve No 1

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate | 91 points

“One of the top wines in the portfolio, the 2012 Reserve Series is a gorgeous blend of 60% Syrah and 40% Grenache that spent 17 months in 40% new French oak. Most of the new oak here was reserved for the Syrah, with the Grenache kept mostly in neutral barrels. Inky colored, with rocking notes of white pepper, liquid blackberry, plum, wild herbs and licorice, this full-bodied, voluptuously textured beauty stays nicely polished and fresh, with terrific length. They plan to keep the wine in bottle for a year prior to release, and it should be singing at that point, and evolve nicely through 2022.” — Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate

“Light and refreshing, with well-modulated spice and floral overtones to the lychee and pear flavors, lingering gently. Drink now through 2018.” — Harvey Steiman, Wine Spectator

2013 Cabernet Sauvignon

Wine Advocate | 90 points

Gilbert Cellars’ 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is outstanding. Possessing a Bordeaux-like array of tobacco leaf, black currants and lead pencil, it’s medium to full-bodied and has lots of pretty fruit on the palate, nicely integrated acidity and ripe tannin. There’s also an overriding sense of purity and elegance that grows on you with time in the glass. This is a rock solid value that can be enjoyed today or cellared for a decade or more. — Jeb Dunnuck

2013 Malbec

Wine Advocate | 91 points

A fabulous example of this variety from Washington, the 2013 Columbia Valley Malbec gives up textbook notes of black and blue fruits, lead pencil, graphite and a hint of minerality in a medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated, fresh, lively style. Aged 17 months in 43% new French oak, drink it over the coming 7-8 years. — Jeb Dunnuck

2012 Reserve No. 2

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate | 92

(not released as of 7/11/16) The finest wine in the lineup is the 2012 Reserve No. 2, which is cellar selection of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 25% Petit Verdot that spent 30 months in new French oak. Possessing fabulous purity in its cassis, bouquet garni, tobacco leaf and sweet oak aromas and flavors, this full-bodied beauty is concentrated, with a stacked mid-palate, ripe tannin and a great finish, give bottles 3-4 years of bottle age and enjoy over the following decade or more. –Jeb Dunnuck
